Snake found near Tawas??

I’m having a hard time believing this, and I can’t seem to find anything online to confirm it, but Fran’s name does appear often in the Iosco County paper so who knows…

snake in Tawas?

So, as the story goes…

This snake was recently found at the gypsum plant located just south of Tawas city by Fran Mathy while installing a meter for Consumers Energy.

The gypsum plant is located about miles south of Tawas, Michigan on US..HIGHWAY 23.

For reference, that is about 15 miles from the cabin so hopefully snakes that big prefer to stay close to Lake Huron.

    Ben,

Do the buildings in the background look like the Gypsum plant?? I have seen many rattlesnakes while living in michigan 51 years, however three foot was a big one. This snake resets the calibration on that though.

This snake is approx. 4x as big as any that I have seen in Mich. in the 65 years that I lived there.
Can conservation confirm it being from Mich?
